ELISABETH AXTELL represents a new generation of musicians whose careers are equal parts artistry and entrepreneurship. Her recent engagements on natural horn include Handel and Haydn Society, Boston Baroque, Boston Early Music Festival, Arcadia Players, Pacific MusicWorks, Trinity Baroque Orchestra, Opera Lafayette, Bach Society Houston, the Blue Hill Bach Festival, and the Connecticut Early Music Festival, among others. She is a cofounder of period-instrument ensemble Grand Harmonie and modern-instrument ensemble Emergere, and has proudly supported community music organizations through past service as a president of New England Brass Band and as a board member of the Metropolitan Wind Symphony. A Pacific Northwest native, Elisabeth holds dual degrees in English and music from Gustavus Adolphus College in Saint Peter, Minnesota and a masters degree in music performance from Boston University.
